Happy Holidays!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! May you be able to spend it with all those who mean the most to you. And may you be in the best of health during all your celebrations.
This year has certainly been filled with lots of ups and downs, for all of us.

For my household we’ve see the arrival of another grandchild, the addition of a daughter-in-law in the future, a furry addition of the cat nature to the mix and so much more. My husband and son received promotions, I was laid off and I also found work as an actual paid journalist. I’m sure your careers and personal lives have seen just as many ups and downs.

This year we also found ourselves witnessing a more than historic presidential election, one that shows us both how far we’ve come as a nation and how much further we ought to be able to see us go.

Since next week my husband and I will be off on our traditional winter getaway, this will be the last column for the year! This year we decided to go to Phoenix. We being descendants of desert people and all, we thought it a nice change from the usual foray to Las Vegas. We’re looking forward to going! The last time we were in Phoenix was when our kids were in elementary school and we went for our summer vacation.

We’re planning on seeing the changes to Scottsdale, Tempe and Phoenix, itself. There are several restaurants that have been on our favorite foodie show (Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) that we want to try for ourselves. The weather should be in the upper 60’s during the day, so we won’t freeze our thin-blooded California backsides off and we’ll be able to do a lot of walking!

Since the next time I will write will be on New Year’s-I wanted to be sure to wish all of you the Happiest of Holidays, as well as the wish that 2009 will be better for all of us. And if not better, let us all hope that it will at least not be any worse!

Bless you all and here’s to 2009
