Happy 2023!

This is the hope.

So far, it's been more of the same.

Monday was Steve's 66th birthday. Everyone who was in town came over for a "pre-event" dinner. This weekend, now that the entire family is here, I am doing my hubby's favorite yearly feast.

We have a really huge ribeye roast defrosting. That will be the only part the birthday boy will take care of once I have seasoned it. He's going to put it on his treasured smoker.

I will also be making the traditional Yorkshire pudding to go along with it. Because it's a family favorite, not just his, I am very happy to say I have 2 ovens! I usually make about 3 muffin tins. Yet, we never seen to have any leftovers!

Because of my ongoing mobility issues, I am going to do the traditional salad bar and let people decide how much and what they wish to put on it.
Birthday dessert?  Last week he just wanted my espresso brownies and ice cream. We have to get to the market one way or the other so I'm going to let him choose. These days I have to limit just how much I do.

Very happy to say that I have finished my latest rounds of gel shots to my knees!  Not gonna lie. They are painful suckers to get. And now I will just get back to my normal routine and hope that I start to see the usual improvement shortly.

But there was also another set of needles that I needed to attend to. It seems are elder dog, Lucky, was in need of her rabies and distemper shots. No surprise, had it in/on the calendar for quite a while.

Always a tricky thing to take one dog.  Sunshine was frantic. I had to shut myself and Lucky into the laundry room to manage the hook up and necessary escape.

Sunshine was whimpering and hitting the door.  Rest of the outing went okay. In fact, the tech said they always love when they see our girls on the roster because they're just so sweet.  Proud fur mom moment!

Of course, for those of you who are unaware, the rabies shot is a painful one. Side effects?  Pain, crankiness and lots of drama.

Lucky pretty much came home and both cried at her sister and acted as if I made her go through torture.

Thankfully she also fell asleep for about 3 hours. That didn't sit well with Sunshine. You see she doesn't want to go to the bathroom unless her sister is there for moral support.  She was also so worried about her that she just kept on looking underneath the blanket and smelling her. This set off a whole thing of growling due to the crankiness.

Yep, 2023, off to a start. Too soon to tell what kind.
