Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
You know you are in bad shape when even one of your many orthopedics says he can see underneath the mask about how much pain you are experiencing .
I hate to keep on beleaguering this time of my existence but I'm out of my usual sense of humor here.
Tuesday, Adam rolled me out to his car and got me to my knee and shoulder guy. Of course, they only allow the doctors to address two issues at a time! Which means that my knees were ignored in favor of the shoulders that were screaming and spasming.
Thankfully, my arthritis issues were not the main issues, I suppose. But I knew that. I've had so many partial tears in that right rotator cuff I don't even know how it's staying attached! The orthopedic said the main problem was both bursitis and tendonitis. He's pretty sure that with all the pressure I exerted on the rotator cuffs of both arms that using that damn Walker didn't help a thing.
Of course, then comes the problem of how to address calming down the spasms and the pain when one cannot take NSAIDs because of an ulcer nor should steroids be used because of the valley fever!
He decided to give me a half dose in the shoulder that was most offensive and spasming the hardest. he said if it works great if not he'll give me the other half dose in a couple of weeks in another spot. Well, I can tell you that while the spasms have slightly lessened the pain has not.
In fact, this may be way too much information, but I have not put on any undergarments because it's just too darn painful to do so! I'm going with heavy t-shirts and screaming to get my night shirt off and change into the clothes until later in the evening .
For those of you who are wondering-putting on something as simple as deodorant or rubbing in one of the various topical pain gels is a whole new experience in helping lesson pain.
I've decided that my goal for the rest of this year, is just to get up on my feet and out of the wheelchair!
Monday I am going for an MRI on the foot to check on a break that the doctor is hoping isn't a serious as he thinks. his hopes are that it is best case scenario and no surgery will be required and if it is I can start to put some weight on the broken foot.
As I've already said, one can hope.
