What Do I Wear?

Our version of winter here in the desert has been firmly in place for the last couple of weeks.

The dogs wake me up in pitch black and we can hear the wind howling outside. We also hear the clapping of the various vents throughout the house.

When the wind gets going around here it's upwards of about 40 mph.

We also tend to have temperatures in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

At some point, not only do we have sunrise, but by mid afternoon we might be in the mid 70s.

Not that I have any place all that interesting or dire to go to, but It's hard to dress during this season!

The other morning the wind did not die down until somewhere around noon!

I asked Alexa for the temp scene assured me it was 67.

So I got dressed with a fairly light jacket and put the girls harnesses and jackets on and walked out the front door.  I can assure you it was not 67°. And for whatever reason, while in the backyard the wind looked as if it had settled down to a mild breeze— when we went out front it was still about 30 miles an hour!

The girls and I took a miserable 1 mile walk in that cold wind and decided we were done for the day. They'd opted not to take off their jackets for the rest of the afternoon.  I pretty much followed suit.

At 2:30 I had to pick up the younger grands.  I did not take off my jacket just got in the car went up the street. I walked up to the school. Guess what?

I was sweating immediately! No wind, no breeze and It was 75!

Little kids don't care about hot or cold. Both children came out with masks on their face and they're jackets keeping their backpacks warm. They said they were hot all day!

I'm pretty sure we will have at least another brief cold snap, where we have ice on the ground and freezing temperatures. This will be followed by our usual arrival of unbearable heat.

At least I know then how to dress!
