My Private Drill Sergeant

I have probably mentioned this- I have my own private drill sergeant!

She's approximately 12 years old, 6 lb and quite bossy. We affectionately call her Lucky.

Not only does she wake me up a half an hour before I need to, but she also does it quite loudly.

In her defense, first she starts with a little whimper and standing up and getting out from the sheet which she is laid in next to me all night.

If I don't react to the whimper then she jumps on me and starts kissing my face.

Telling her to go back to sleep for a while is just a plain waste of time.  We noticed a few months back that she is quite deaf.

When the first two tries a getting me out of bed don't work that's when the drill sergeant in her becomes prevalent.

The barking begins and doesn't actually end until she's not only done her business but has her breakfast.

This morning this started at 4:10 in the morning.

If I'm persistent and make her wait until 5, there's no more sleep but at least it's not the middle of the night.

If you're wondering what Sunshine does during this morning ritual, she let's her sister take the lead.  Her sphinx pose is perfect.

We often say we should have gone to training classes the way we did for their predecessors.  But I have a feeling that the way Lucky is I still would've been the one who wound up being trained.

Excuse me, Lucky is tapping on the security door to be let in...
