what's cooking?

Even though we have our sweet little namesake who has many of the same personality traits, I still find it hard to believe our beautiful, sweet "original" is gone.  

I'm more loving kind spirit that only a dog can have would anybody have ever wished for on so many levels. Her favorite thing? Talking to us while we all gathered at the kitchen table. There she would be doing doggie talk as if she were part of our conversations.

She loved us all. Most dogs choose one person in the family to Shadow the most. Sunshine loved us all. And that included her own little baby Pepper.

Hard to believe that they're both gone.

What's amazing is, that the original Lucky and her namesake, despite the size difference have many of the same traits. Lucky sees herself as a total protector the same way her name's sake did. Yet both think their lap dogs. Of course, it's much easier for little Lucky at 6 lb to sit on my lap then her counterpart who was 70!

Same could be said for Sunshine.

Sunshine loved being the baby. She also took care of everyone and loved to play. Her personality was one that said, "I'm the baby, gotta love me!"

In the evenings, she would just hop right up on top of Steve in his recliner with all her 70 lb and want to lay with him and be petted. She would just sit and stare at him with a big brown loving eyes.

It's certainly a testament to her that nine years after her passing, we still get ready eyed.
