Happy Valentine's Day!

Still recovering, more or less, from my latest little medical procedure but wanted to wish everyone a very happy Valentine's Day!

Not really sure what Steve and I will be doing tomorrow except the ordinary:  shopping, hopefully walking the girls and prepping for our family dinner on Monday.  Sam found a great deal on a whole brisket, so Steve will be spending Monday smoking it.  This time I'll be preparing the sides!

Also,  my wonderful friend Arricca told me about the birthday cake she made for her hubby's birthday-Chocolate Stout!  I asked if she'd share the recipe and it came in the mail the other day.  So I'm going to give that a try.  I would've started the cake today but finding a single can of stout is more difficult that I had imagined!  Walmart only had a 6 pack.  We don't really drink, so I really didn't want that!  The area manager told me to try either the Circle K or the Chevron station on my way home.  They also didn't have any.

Luckily, both of the managers told me to try the Safeway up the street-they swore they had seen single cans when they were there shopping.  We were going tomorrow, so I guess making the cake will wait until then.  Which I'm admitting is probably a much better thing to do.

Since the smoker will be going for literally 12 hours, I'm going to have Steve smoke some potatoes (kids absolutely devoured them the last time!) and then I'll make a very simple spinach salad.

Monday I will also be taking my longest solo drive since "the ankle" incident way back in September.  I'll be going clear to the PT's office and home.  Not really a easy feat.  It's a 25 mile drive-one way.  Plus there's the hour long appointment.

Here's to February!
