I am of a Desert People

Lately, we have been having fairly extreme weather!

Saturday was a delightful 70° with high sun. We were told we were going to have rain on Sunday. It turned out to be more than true.

Even here in our little bubble, it seems that the rain finally came to us. It was also on seasonably cold!  We were going out for brunch.  Little did we know it would become quite the adventure.

It was a bit of a drive.  It rained all the way.  Even with the cold winter weather that no one ever expects, there were people lined up from the door of the restaurant around the building for at least 50'!

The choice was:  Stand out in the cold/rain with everybody for an hour or more OR brave the patio that had sails and patio heaters.

We chose the latter.  We figured either way all of us would probably be cold and wet.

Then it happened.  The wind started moving the rain on us and the patio heaters ran out of fuel!  Management swore they had just replaced the tanks after closing time the night before so they would be ready for Sunday service.

Evidently those heaters empty quite quickly!  No one came out to exchange them.

Our server was top-notch and kept the hot coffee coming.  We all enjoyed our brunch thanks to her professionalism.  We always figure on Murphy's law will undoubtedly visit at some point in daily life anyway, so all was good!

We all left happy, full and wanting to go back when we could eat without having a shower at the same time!

The rain and literally freezing temperature kept coming down all the way home.

Wait!  There's more!

Later Steve was intent on smoking burgers.  Yep, sometimes his dedication is amazing.

He moved the smoker closer to the covered area of the patio and turned it on.

About 3 minutes in, I heard it!  HAIL!  Steve said, "it's just harder rain, we're fine".  Then I peeked out the patio slider and witnessed a blanket of white!  No denying my analysis now!

In conclusion:  Our Sunday weather adventures did give me this week's story!
