I Love Him Dearly, But...

About 16 years ago I wrote a story that wound up in Chicken Soup for the Soul about marriage. It was about how Steve had surprised me with brand new bedroom linen set.  He had to zig zag multiple obstacles to get it to work. Including buying me a step stool to get into the bed!

Two years later we bought a bigger bed.

Fast forward to now.

He's still trying to "make things better" for his disabled wife. I'm also the least person you want near anything technical.

To relieve me of turning on a light switch-Alexa has entered the domicile. Sigh. She knows that I have no skills and frequently reminds me of that fact. I have to request the same need at least three times before it happens. IF it happens.

Plus, sometimes she tells me she's having trouble connecting but will keep trying.

Since breaking my ankle/foot 2 years ago, Steve makes his own breakfast.

Slight problem with that is that he doesn't clean up any piece of equipment or food. I'm still putting the fry pan, spatula, playe, etc away or cleaning up the egg and shells off the stove! He likes to crack the egg into the pan to save a separate bowl.

Anyone else hate scouring egg off a step e by a burner?

Imagine doing it with arthritic hands!

Recently he fixed the dishwasher.  Grateful for that. Except now he obsessed over how I close the door. I just want it to close.  Not technical, don't care about the "whys" of his method. Definitely don't care about the 15 minute tutorial where he shows me how not to do it my way.

Sam says that he's giving me a taste of our future.

Sigh.
