And Just Like That!

Just like that-we have no more "little" grandkids anymore.

Dylan, 14, is now a high schooler!  Yep, all 6'3" of him went off to his first year at a new campus without his slightly younger brother.  First time they've been separated.

Aidan, 13,  is an 8th grader.  I asked how he enjoyed being on campus without his brother?  Still no replay.  Guessing the jury is still out on this matter or he's just being a teenager.

Jackson, just turned 8, welcomed his sister Bryce,5-1/2, to his school.  Yes, our youngest grandchild entered the world of kindergarten.

Wow, seems literally as if it was yesterday when our parents entered "big kid" school.  Things are so different for kids now though.  Not just the "is it a mask day/week?" thing, but will we get to see our friends in person or on a computer?  Is it an extreme heat day and we'll be forced to stay in the classroom all day if we do get to go to school?  What will happen to us next week?

I'm old and decrepit-I miss seeing people in person.  So far, with the exception of a few coffees and dinners with friends, the only humans (outside of our bubble) I've seen in over a year and a half have been members of my own personal medical team.  Can't imagine what it's like for kids who truly do need to be around people of their own age to grow, learn and be social on a regular basis.

My heart hurts for this generation.  We all deserve better.
