Lily

Darling Lily

Today has been just awful.

Our darling grandpup Lily left us.  She was 14.  The worst part was that Adam, Sam and the kids were on their very first solo family vacation.  

Last week, Lily was slowing down.  When she and Dex "moved" in for the week, we knew she was really different and slower.

We figured that it was old age.  All went well until Tuesday morning.  We found Lily had lost control of everything.  Let's leave it at that.  Very lethargic.

Finally got in touch with the kids. They called the vet and gave permission for me to get treatment.

This morning, with the help of my wonderful friend Lynda, I got her to the very sweet Dr. Jillson.  After x-rays and blood work, she called with the both dreaded and expected news:

Huge bleeding mass from her spleen.

Got a hold of the kids, Sarah and Aidan met me there.  We spent time with her until the kids could face time.  Bawled our heads off.

Lily went peacefully.  

The rest of us, not so much.

And then I had three little dogs waiting for me to open the door so they could greet their matriarch.  Poor Dex.  He's forlorn.  I'm sure he'll be worse when he gets home and won't have his girlfriends around.

Sometimes, days suck.
