Finally, Good News!

Thankfully, I have good news to share!

My MRI came back stating that no surgery is necessary!

So after five weeks of trying to manage on one half of a leg I am now able to start putting some weight on my broken foot.  That may not sound like a lot to most people, but to someone who has been having a ton of trouble just managing a wheelchair without hitting into the water closet door- I am thrilled!

As soon as I received word, I got into my wheelchair rolled myself into the bedroom opened up the closet and grabbed the Walker. I put the wheelchair in the corner and started the task of trying to stand the pain of walking.

Because I was so anxious to get on my feet slightly overdid it, but that's nothing new for me. I decided I would get up every 15 to 20 minutes and hobble around the house. I even managed to feed the dogs all on my own and help prepare some dinner!

Next morning, I realized I had to slow my ambitious lifestyle down a tad. When you haven't been able to walk for 5 weeks things happen to your old body. My decrepit knees were killing me, my hips weren't liking me too much and my shoulder which had started to only feel better was hurting. And I won't even discuss the broken ankle and foot.

Still, I forged on. The ortho said I had to take it easy and don't do anything without the Walker. No problem there! I don't have enough strength to even think about walking around without some heavy duty prop.

However, all in all, I am just thrilled to be able to get up and use two feet!

I'm not giving myself any goals past just strengthening my body and just working on autonomy .
