Happy May Day Birthday!
38 years ago at 11:35 p.m. Steve and I had the first special event in our married life-we became parents.
Steve wasn't quite ready. I was a bit over a month early when I came in and said, "I've decided to have this baby tomorrow."
He told me NO! You can't have this baby for a month!
Really? Well, obviously Sarah Rose and I didn't give a whit about what he thought and that was that.
Even at 35-1/2 weeks gestation, Sarah was 23-3/4" long and weighed in at 5 lbs, 13 oz. Healthy, beautiful and had the most perfect head shape for a baby that the nurses had ever seen.
We brought her home to our then apartment and she was greeted by our cat Snowy. As soon as that cat saw her, she decided this was her personal property. She made sure she ate, burped, got changed and that I bathed her to the best of HER wishes.
Since then, Sarah has become quite a young woman, mom and all around human being. Her love of travel and adventure is amazing. She knows no fear about going to foreign countries and making discoveries most of us wouldn't dream of trying without the aid of professional assistance.
Even though this year has not exactly been what any of this world could/would have imagined, here's hoping that Sarah continues to be fearless and strong.
