Taxing/Testing My Positivity

My positive outlook is truly being tested beyond my normal resolve.  My latest fall and Steve sharing his head cold with me turned out to be a real deterrent to my happiness.

I limped around with the added burden of wearing my heavy duty hand/wrist brace for 3 days.  The typical sneezing and coughing blew out my back, so add that to my resolved to keep smiling. Let's just put it out there -I felt as awful as I looked.  My goal was to get well enough to still get my hand surgery on Halloween morning.

It was a close call, but I made it.  Steve got me to the surgicenter.  Of course, my alloted time was bumped because of an emergency procedure. Even with that little snag, I was done by 1 o'clock.  When Adam heard I just had a local and was able to hear what was happening, he actually shuddered!  Not really a big deal.  Last time I had this surgery, it was my thumb and forefinger, so this was a total 9 minutes.  And I didn't have to wonder if my usual proclivity toward stomach upset would follow!

My surgical dressing came off last night. Pain isn't too bad.  Let's face it, given my lack of tolerance for pain relief medications, it's not as if taking something is an option.

So, here I am:  back still out, sinus pressure, surgical pain and the remaining issues from my fall.

My smile is here.  It's just that I think my family is noticing the pinched look on my face and asking if I have been grinding my brand new crown on that formally broken back molar.

Quite the pretty picture, no???
