Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas

After 4 years of not having the ceremony our local Chabad did a Menorah lighting at the outlet mall up the street.  Steve and I took all four kids.

It was a clear and crisp evening. The older boys knew what to expect but they seem to enjoy all the festivities while trying to look cool in the meantime.  Our eldest, Dylan, for some reason wore his sunglasses, LOL!

The younger 2 enjoyed guessing how many dreidels were in a huge plastic jug, eating the jelly donuts and latkes, doing the crafts and watching the juggler who emceed along with performing.

All 4 really enjoyed watching the rabbi light the huge menorah and getting all the kids and adults singing the various holiday traditional songs.

While lighting the candles during our celebration is 8 days strong-they had never actually seen or heard a rabbi perform the ritual.

Depending on how long you have been glancing over my blog you might have noticed I don't exactly mention any kind of politics or religion.  I've always been a person who believes everyone has a right to their opinion as long as we treat each other with respect and allow each side to have those opinions.

This time I am mentioning both subjects because the world is just so full of chaos. Many things have become extremely scary.  The very saddest truth is that the rabbi called all of us who attended last night "brave". To think that just going to a neighborhood Menorah lighting should be called an act of valor is hard for me to digest.

My wish for this holiday season is that we all find our way back/to enjoying our neighbors and family for who they are and remember it's our differences that make us the same.
