Happy Father's Day

Father's Day is here!

Similar to Mother's Day but now we're celebrating the male half of the gene pool.

This year, Sarah (look below at the picture of Steve in front of his prized gift!) bought Steve a smoker.  He'd been wanting one for a while.  Basically ever since he saw numerous videos on YouTube about people smoking all kinds of goodies that our basic and well used grill couldn't complete with-sticky and luscious ribs, briskets, pork of all kinds, etc...

Especially with his pandemic furlough, we couldn't justify the expense of another way to cook outdoors.  We put it on our "wish list".

Let me tell you-I don't even really like beef, but I have to admit several of those briskets did look pretty darn tasty.

Steve had Sarah and the boys over the other night for us to debut the first dinner.  We did St. Louis ribs and baked potatoes.  It took over 5 hours for the ribs and about 2 for the spuds.  It was well worth the wait.  We all agreed that smoking low and slow was better than grilled ribs anytime.

Back to Father's Day.

Since Adam made Sam, Sarah and I a beautiful Mother's Day breakfast-we decided to host Father's Day.  We're smoking angus burgers and making "Lynchburg bacon" (basically they're rubbed and drenched in bourbon!).  We're supplying quite the burger bar of toppings too.  The girls are bringing the sides.

Good news for Father's Day!  Adam was called back to work.  Thankfully he's also getting his day off.  Steve will be following suit at the first of the month.

Just in time-there isn't anything left in the house for Steve to hook up to Alexa and everything that needed any bit of repair has been done.  He hates sitting, so the timing is literally perfect!

May all the grandpas, dads, uncles, step-dads and "stand-ins" have a wonderful blessed day with all those who think of you as a dad.
