RANT!

By the title above you have been warned.

Some people should not be pet parents!

We're not sure exactly where this poor pup lives other than he is somewhere on this block. No matter what the temperature, what the elements are providing or time of day, this poor dog is outside! And we know this because this poor dog barks!

With Steve's new job we get up at 5:30 a.m. and that poor thing is already barking. He/she barks all day long and when I let the girls out for their last outing for the night at 10:00 that dog is still out there barking!

Why on Earth does someone adopt a dog only to make it stay out in extreme heat, winds that are in Gail mode, storms that are loud and scary, freezing cold mornings and all the other elements of living in a desert?
If I knew exactly what house it was I would definitely be calling pet services and letting them know that these people are abusing and neglecting this poor thing.

This morning it was 32° and I wouldn't put out my two little princesses until I put their coats on! And as soon as they were done I was standing right there at the door to let them in.

Okay, I admit it, I indulge and spoil my little girls. But this is also a matter of safety. While by the bark I can tell this is a sizable dog you really never know what's going to hop over your fence out here!

Because we have the security cameras, in the last couple of weeks alone we have had a bobcat and her babies on top of the fence during the night . A very agile coyote was also on the fence. And let us not forget that before Steve found a way to mess up and lower everything in sight we had a rattlesnake in the yard! We really don't have a fear that one of the wild burros that passed by our side street will be bothering our dogs but we did find out recently we also have some wild raccoons!

No one whether man nor beast should be made to live outside 24/7. There are times where I am so sorry for that animal that if I really knew where it lived I would go retrieve it and adopt it myself. At least I would know it would be properly taken care of and loved.
