Happy 2016!

Happy New Year's to you all!

I don't know about you but I'm hoping for a really good year.

Last year was quite the roller coaster-everything from the wonderful to the ugly.  That's life.

Being a new year, I was wondering:  Do you make resolutions?  Or is this idea an outdated notion that we all laugh at and ignore?

Let's face it, most of us have similar and mundane items on that list:  lose weight, get in better shape, spend more time doing things we want rather than what we have to do, yada, yada, yada...

I'd just like a year without drama!  One with no one getting some dreaded syndrome, disease, surgery or have some kind of fall.  It would be really terrific if our lives could just be boring and mundane.

Honestly, I'd be quite content with mundane and boring.

According to a FaceBook quiz (I'm not sure about the validity, but I'm happy that they think I'll have this!) Wisdom is what my word will be:

This word will guide you through the year of 2016! It will support you in your daily struggles and situations that may appear hopeless. This word will always show you the silver lining so that you won't ever need to worry. It was chosen for you specifically, embrace it! Share your result on Facebook and show your friends what your word for 2016 is!

Wow!  Wisdom chosen just for me-must be true then!

This week Steve is turning 59 (since I'm posting this on New Year's Day-that means tomorrow).  It's his last year to be "in his 50's".  I'd laugh, but come the end of the year the same fate becomes mine.  As many would point out, this is just fine because it is something that way too many people do NOT get to do.

It's hard to believe but this year we'll see our grandkids turn:  9,8,3 and 1 respectively.  Steve and I are looking forward to celebrating our 35th anniversary with another Caribbean cruise.  Although, I'm thinking it will not include being part of the twist dance contest or any tours that include any type of "bouncing" roads.  I'm hoping to be able to come back in one piece.  I am contemplating the idea of getting my next epidural about a month before we go for "back-up" to get through walking the streets of San Juan (cobblestones rule), enjoying St. Maarten and St. Thomas as well.

Other plans?  Absolutely none.  Just hoping that at some point my body and I come to terms with, as my shoulder/knee ortho has stated, "our limitations" and be able to continue walking.

Never know what life has in store for us.  I'm thinking that at this point we've had our share of calamity and we're overdue for some calm.

May the same be said for all of you in cyber-space.  Here's to what we all hope will be a good year.

Comments:
My one important New Year's resolution is to be more productive. Seems like since I've been retired I've frittered too much time away. Our youngest son and his wife just returned from a Christmas cruise in the Caribbean. It was his first cruise and I think he enjoyed it. Happy birthday to Steve. Fifty nine feels like it was ages ago and I'm only 62. Hmmmmm, "only 62" doesn't sound right.

Happy New Year! Hope it comes with all that wisdom you seek.

Just want a boring year myself

Woah! A Caribbean Cruise is something great to look forward to. I hope any excitement you have in 2016 is only of the good kind and not at all of the bad.

me too Bun, me too. Hopefully the same can be said for you and your family and the rest of this very overly crazy world.
