Thankfully, This Week was Boring

You read that correctly!  This week was pretty calm and dull.  I enjoyed it!

Steve and I even took in a fantastic movie-very hard for me to sit that long, but at least it was worth it.  We finally saw our home grown and so sad movie "Only the Brave" about our Hot Shot firefighters who died in the Yarnell disaster.

Besides that, we also did our grocery shopping, laundry, dishes, plenty of cooking and I even got Steve to work out at the gym!

I had a couple of milestones!  Monday, my neighbor/friend Tracy and I actually walked the entire 2 miles of our usual  course (all right, still a 1/2 mile shy, but I'm proud of myself!)  Came home and took a very long rest, but was glad I was able to do it!  Lucky actually made it through about 3/4 of that walk before demanding to be put in her "stroller".  Sunshine made it, but upon arriving at home-she tanked up with water and then jumped onto the bed and I didn't see or hear from her for a couple of hours.

Lucky just rested a while before pestering Pepper.

This is Veteran's Day weekend and we have quite a community of veterans here in Anthem.  Our main park has a beautiful memorial permanently erected, we host a parade and have a ceremony re-dedicating the memorial every year.  It's well attended and rightly so.

Besides the community projects going on, we'll be watching the little Nadels so their parents can attend the Ronald MacDonald House Charity Gala on Saturday night.  This time of the year, everyone seems to be opening up their hearts and wallets for various non-profits.

Steve and I went to a fundraiser for the Phoenix Children's Hospital at our local First Watch breakfast place (it was opened just for this dinner).   Jackson had some surgery done there and so did a close friend's grand-daughter, so we feel a huge connection. We have also donated at Petco to their pet charity and at PetSmart for their charity-not for the pets but for kids who are victims of violence.  Buy a stuffed dog/cat and it's given to a child in need.

By the time we got to Albertson's they also wanted a donation!  At that point, I said, "sorry, we've already made 3 other donations this week and that's all we can do."

We'd love to be able to donate to every single charity, but that's just not doable.  We do other things to help:  I take my plastic grocery bags to the community center and they are used to make waterproof blankets for the homeless.  I have my Fry's card attached to donate automatically (depends on what I've purchased) to our local and very hard-working pet rescue.  I'm doing what I can to help out, really!

It's really hard to believe, but in a few days I will be leaving my "50's" behind and moving into my next decade on earth.  Eek!  I am really hoping that my 60's are good, but the last few years in my 50's really had some big challenges.
