Toodles
The time has finally come-I will not be back until mid-April.
I bid you all a wonderful end of March and beginning of April. As for me, in a few days I’ll be on a red-eye (yes, the flight I swore here in some blog long ago that I’d never do again) headed for Ft. Lauderdale.
Why after all that complaining about looking like death warmed over and swearing off these flights am I doing it? Easy, it was FREE.
You see, we really wanted to celebrate our 30th anniversary on this cruise, but we knew that unless it was all paid for by “rewards” cards, we were celebrating with a coupon at Daphne’s Greek Café either in Aliso Viejo or Mission Viejo, CA.
Fortunately, we managed to just squeak by and have enough for this free Celebrity Eclipse AquaClass cruise, $500 in shipboard credit and coach tickets on Jet Blue. WooHoo! For some reason, this latest anniversary trip seems all the sweeter when the only bills to pay are for the animals stay at the local Petsmart Hotel and our 2 night stay at the Sofitel in Miami’s South Beach. And yes, the reason we’re going there was not only the price, but the fact that breakfast is included.
We prefer to think of ourselves as smart travelers rather than miserly. After all, we’re talking about one person who hasn’t had a steady income in the last 3 years and the other who just had his company sold out and had his job switched out for something that may be either a boon or a bane. So being very conservative is quite the ticket.
So, back to the dreaded red-eye. Our daughter-in-law will be taking us to LAX (yes, another concession as Jet Blue doesn’t leave out of John Wayne). We’ll have a 2 hour stopover at Kennedy airport. Too bad we’ll be in no condition to care what NYC looks like at some 2 in the morning. Then it will be on to Ft. Lauderdale. There we’ll be catching a shuttle to Miami, where we will hope the hotel will take pity on us and give us a room at 11 a.m. or so. Thursday and Friday we’ll rest up, enjoy walking around South Beach-which we haven’t seen in 10 years-and then look forward to boarding the ship on Saturday.
By then, if we’re lucky, we’ll have had some sleep, some sun and be ready for re-visiting the Grand Caymans and Cozumel. We’ll also be first time visitors in Roatan and Puerto Del Maya.
Of course, before I can really leave-I believe I have about 5 more stories to write, so I will leave you all and get to work.
Have a wonderful couple of weeks, may you all have at least as much romance and fun as I’m planning on having.

You'll have to let me know what those rewards cards are. I'm a smart traveler too. Well, I want to be. We just had friends come back from a cruise similar to your's and they had a great time. I'm just envying the warm weather you're going to experience. Frost on our windshields here again this morning.
here-lots of very cold wind, gray skies and more drizzle/rain. I'm looking forward to the warmth as well.
We actually had 2 Celebrity cards-we were able to combine them. Took a lot of time-but well worth it. The plane tix were on a Starwood card-it's good for hotels, car rentals and airfare.
