Summertime

Not that we actually know a difference between Spring and Summer here in Arizona, but it is Summer!  The temperature on the first official day here in our neck of the woods (desert) was 110.

Lately, Sunshine has been getting me up at odd hours to "use the facilities".  Last night, it was 1:45 a.m..  Not that I'm going to say I mind-I'd much rather get up, turn off the alarm system and let her out that find out she had an "accident" in the middle of the night.  But wowie wow!  I opened the door and got blasted by what Alexa told me was 102!

When both dogs saw the start of day break at 5:30, it was 85.  The good news is that when I get to the community center for my 9 a.m. water aerobics it was a delightful 92.  We're expecting temps in the 110 range the rest of the week.

Again, not that unusual for those of us who have decided to live on the face of the sun.

The worst part is actually trying to find things for the older grands to do.  They've hit that age where taking them to the summer reading program is NOT going to happen except to check out books and rack up points so they can get their free Peter Piper Pizza.

This is a place our daughter absolutely hates, but hey-I feel that as long as they're doing something other than staring at their IPads, I'm doing my job as their grandmother.

Movies?  Nope, nearest one is about a 20 minute drive.  I have no desire to either sit in the theater watching movies or to spend the money on what is being put out for them to watch.  We do have lots of passes from Steve's work, but for some reason he has it in his brain that he has to hoard these for "our retirement, so we have something to do".

Uh huh.

Speaking of movies, I actually sat through one last week-Oceans 8.  It was entertaining and I'd recommend it.  We also have seen "All the Money in the World" about the kidnapping of JP Getty's grandson.  What a piece of work Getty was-if you don't know the entire story, it's worth watching.

Say what you will, we also sat through "The Disaster Artist", which was a true story as well.  Let's just say that adding the word disaster to the title was appropriate.

And that's all I've got for you this week.  I'll leave you with a review of "The Incredibles" that the younger grands told me:  Bryce (this was her first movie)  "It was beautiful grandma"

Her older more and more detailed brother Jackson told me, "It was really good, but I liked the one about the surfing penguins much better."

LOL, I love getting the real story from the kids.

Comments:
We watch our grandboys one day a week during the summer and I also struggle to find ways to pry them loose from my computer and our TV (they're not allowed to bring their tablets to our house). This week we picked strawberries at a local farm.

I don't think my wife liked The Disaster Artist either. She did kind of enjoy The Shape of Water even though she's not a fan of creature type movies.

Back from our first cruise, this one to Alaska. We were surprised how well they treat you aboard these ships. Not used to being with so many people though.

We don't mind the people-love talking to everyone from different parts of the country and other countries!
