Just So You Know
I had an entirely different blog already written for this week. It was really funny too!
But you're not reading it for a good reason: MY STUPID 8 YEAR OLD COMPUTER IS DECIDING ALL MY PROGRAMS ARE ILLEGAL ACTS AND THAT I DON'T HAVE PERMISSION TO LOG INTO ANY OF THEM.
No, I'm not kidding!
It all started over the weekend. I wasn't really concerned at first-after all the internet connection can't always work perfectly!
Every site, every e-mail kept telling me that I was in "error". My screen went black a couple of times. I re-booted, I cleared out my cookies, I sent a text to Steve. You know, all the things that a technodweeb should do in case of emergencies.
Steve came home and did exactly what I did, he de-fragmented it as well. To finish up the process he went in to the control panel and backed up the whatchamacallit and re-set it to Friday when it was working just fine.
Then he asked me to try one of my sites and my e-mail. Well, at that moment my e-mail was okay but the site I was on told me I was still in "error". He looked at me and said, "see, your good to go."
"How do you figure that????"
"Because you don't really need to go on that site anyway." Really? Who made him the boss of what I like to do?
Then Tuesday came. I shamed myself into starting at least one of my profiles that I've been ignoring on my desk.
Problem: "This is a program that is currently unavailable to you. Please try again OR repair program."
Suddenly my computer wants me to pay for my Word program.
I sent another text to Steve. I'm writing this on my BlogSpot program on Tuesday. As of this moment, he has not texted me or called me.
He did tell me last week that I needed to stop telling him that I may be needing a new computer because this one is so old. "How can you say it's old? You haven't had it that long!"
I pointed out that he's had 3 laptops (okay, one was a replacement for the stolen one but you get my drift here) in the same time I've had this one desktop. We got it for me two months before I was laid off from my job in October of 2008!
There's no way I can be positive on the level of antiquity this is in computer life but I'm pretty sure I'm lucky I'm allowed on the internet at all.
Whatever-just wanted you all to know.

If I were a cynical sort, I would think there's some kind of conspiracy in cyberspace to have us all buy new computers.
I'm certain there is Dave. As you well know, I've always had a love/hate thing going on w/ this thing known as a "computer"
