New Year, Same Old Crap
We were actually invited to a party for NYE! Dinner and fun at Steve's manager's home. Except we didn't get to go. You know why? Because of me.
Yep, despite the fact that on December 30th at 8 a.m. I was perfectly fine (relatively speaking given my normal health issues) and then I swallowed.
I hate that. One minute I'm looking forward to going to my first TRX class since March and the next minute-literally in a swallow-I'm out for the count. My throat was on fire, my nose and sinuses had me applying my "hot sock" to help the pain on my face, I began to have a fever. The coughing and lung issues amped up by half way through the day.
Piffle.
It was obvious by what I made for what passed as dinner that I wasn't going to my class and I sure wasn't going to make going anywhere for NYE.
Then came what I hate as much as the incessant coughing-the sneezing. By morning I hadn't slept and my ribs were so sore that I didn't relish the every minute task of taking a deep breath.
The week before our daughter Sam and her mom had "it" and felt miserable for a couple of days. I on the other hand was on death's bed being served a LOT of hot lemonade. Plus, with high blood pressure and valley fever the meds that many would take to relieve their discomfort aren't exactly advisable. So I took the worthless Coricidin and relied on my NSAID to bring down the fever.
By mid-day NYE, I just wanted to crawl into bed. Thank goodness I made enough matzo ball veggie soup for our dinner. So there we were, two old people celebrating the last of the decade in bed by 7 p.m.
Happy New Year Darling!
I did sleep somehow. Steve's alarm waking me up at 7. My sinuses were better and the fever was down, but the coughing and sneezing persisted. Plus (I didn't even know that this was a possibility) when I moved my right arm I had the worst pain since taking in that deep breath moments before.
How exactly does one hurt their bicep due to sneezing and coughing?????
Whatever, I still have high hopes for a better year. In fact, a better decade.
Steve's birthday was supposed to be that beautiful ribeye roast in the freezer with Yorkshire pudding and salad along with whatever he wanted for dessert (he's really not a cake person) but even that's on hold.
Anyway, hopefully YOU ALL had a wonderful NYE celebration and a great start to 2020!
