2021 You Aren't Impressing Me Much

One week into 2021 and I'm just not that impressed.  So far, we have had a bunch of idiots storm our nation's capital with the sheer intent of ridiculous destruction. I have also had two good friends report that they have covid-19. One is in the hospital.

While my doctor assures me I'm doing quite well for a person who was in a wheelchair just a few weeks ago, I am sick and tired of not being able to drive a car all by myself. As of today it has been four months since I broke my stupid ankle and foot.

I did get to drive! It was only a total of two miles and the result was that my foot was spasming the rest of the day but it was good to get Sam and the kids into my car so I could drive them up the street to the mechanic to pick up their car.

The physical therapist has been kicking my proverbial rear end in a good way. She has been working my ankle and foot to be able to move and that is why I decided to try and drive up the street. I have also been working quite hard at home with my homework exercises. The girls are also extremely pleased with the fact that I am taking them on daily walks to strengthen all of our muscles!

This past week Steve turned 64! As per our tradition, I served him his favorite dinner of ribeye roast, Yorkshire pudding, a huge salad and Sarah brought the cheesecake for dessert. Our only deviation was that this year Steve decided with his smoker to smoke the roast and the accompanying root vegetables. It came out very tasty.

Of course, it was bound to happen - by the time I was through with the preparation and the cleanup I was so exhausted and my foot was spasming so much that after the kids left I soaked in a nice hot Epsom salt bath and fell asleep by 9:00.

Since we are also still walking around with masks on our face, fear of catching the dreaded disease and not socializing the way we would like, I'm not sure I would call this new year anything but a "let's see" beginning.
