Hallelujah!
After the frustration over trying to find a way to get the covid vaccine for both Steve and I, I went public!
Yep, went straight to Facebook. Someone else, or I should say a lot of people, here in Arizona were fed up with trying to get appointments on our computers. One very nice woman finally said here call this number.
Since I wound up not going to physical therapy. it seems Steve had booked a doctor's appointment at the same time as we needed to leave for my appointment and my car was in the mechanics office getting a much needed multi-system flushing and a pinhole in my oil something or other fixed I had no choice but to stay home.
I took that phone number and was totally shocked!
A live human being answered in less than 2 minutes! She was very nice and proceeded to work the next half hour locating a destination that very afternoon!
By 10:30 a.m. we had appointments! And the bonus? It was only a half hour drive away. It was being held at a local private university. We even got there early and they just put us into the drive up line and we just went through the motions with our authorization numbers.
It literally took us less than a half an hour to go through the line get our shot and have to wait 15 minutes for observation before they sent us on our way. We even had appointments for our second shot already made.
Of course our illustrious governor and the head of the local department of health both made an announcement apologizing for how difficult the website was to ascertain these much-needed vaccines.
We let our friends know that very afternoon. I gave her the number but unfortunately the day was already full but at 8:00 the next morning she and her husband had appointments made. They had to go a bit farther out.
They made good use of the extra mileage and stopped at one of our favorite places to have a meal together on the way home. so they not only got to go get the vaccines but they stopped at portillo's for a late lunch!
Not that it's in the budget, but it would have been nice to do that.
Hopefully shot number two goes as quickly and easily is shot number one. Both of us had sore arms the next day. But nothing worse than let's say the flu shot. Steve did run a bit of a fever. And he also had a swollen lymph node under his arm. Both of which were side effects.
With any luck, this is just one small step towards living some kind of normal life. Whatever that means.
