The "3" Thing is True
That old saying about bad things come in 3s? I would say after the last week this is true. Except we had a fourth!
Last week's debacle of our air conditioning dying continued. Thankfully, for at least Lilly and Dex, they got to go home and enjoy the cool air on Saturday.
The 4 of us we're not so lucky. We did go down for a couple of hours on Sunday to see the kids and cool off our poor dogs. But nothing says uncomfortable the way sleeping in an 89 degree house with 1 dog who insists she is got to sleep right now next to you all night long.
Then came the expected news: our 17+ year old a/c died. Home warranty would cover the cost of a new part and repair, nothing else. Anyone who's been in this predicament knows that if you replace something that old with something new you better do your forced air unit at the same time.
There was a bill most of us don't want to see. But it's not as if we have a choice. In the mean time the company was nice enough to put a loner unit out there to at least cool down the house and off that we could live until they could come early next week with the new units and install.
Because the unit was 2 tons less than what it should be it took about 7 hours to bring the house from itS 89 down to a very liveable 78.
But wait! I said 3 things (okay, 4)!
Not that it matters what caused this— poor Sunshine (TMI alert) came down with about a diarrhea and lost control of her bladder. On the upside, at least the vet was still open and I drove right down to pick up some medication and at least stop the most offensive of her problems.
By the next morning she was back to her perky self. Since she is the one with kidney disease, we'll be watching the other area of concern to see if we need to change medication dosage.
Then my spine/pain doctor said he'd do an injection to help the muscle issue. Fantastic!
I took it to mean 1 needle. Silly me. I got 5, count them, 5 lidocaine shots in the back. Thank goodness they seem to be helping-at least the one issue.
Oh yeah, almost forgot about the smoker! Steve had dinner on there for about when it quit! Four days out of warranty. Grrr...
Steve was on the phone with the company for an hour trouble shooting. He ordered the part but can't fix it until his next day off. Dinner was okay but not that great since it was finished in the oven.
Here comes my last first world hiccup: our 10 year old soft close toilet seat broke.. Mint you, 89 degrees and Steve fought with the broken one for 45 minutes to get it off! 10 minutes to reinstall.
Yep, yep, yep. Quite a week.

In these times of global warming and excessive heat, I wonder about those who do not have air conditioning. It's such a necessity. I have a few relations that have "hot water" heat so no ductwork that could be used for central AC. My 90-year-old mother is one of those. She always says she's fine as long as she keeps the drapes drawn and fans going. Sorry to hear about your continuing issues with aches, pains and aging pets. I've been noticing a sharp pain in my hip occasionally. I chalk it up as one of the joys of our golden years.
Bursitis, perhaps?? Got that in both hope and shoulder. Not much fun. Try a tennis ball and press/roll on a wall of your choice😖😖
