New Experiences

Not to brag, but if there is one thing I've always had, it's good teeth.

I did not get a cavity until I was 38! According to that dentist, it was from wear and tear.  There was that time I was eating a salad and bit the fork and I chipped a tooth-that doesn't really count, does it?

During my normal cleaning a couple of weeks ago, my hygienist asked if I had been having any issues?  I told her the only thing was that my RA seem to be acting up in my jaw lately.  While it was annoying, it wasn't anything I was concerned about at this time.

Then she began her usual gum check.  I was informed that my jaw pain wasn't my RA!  Nope, I broke a molar!  It was the same molar that I had the cavity in.

Great, just great -so NOT!

I left appointment with clean teeth, an estimate for my share of the crown, an appointment and a feeling of dismay.

Really?? The A/C, FAU, dishwasher, the front door hardware and, of course, the toilet seat weren't enough?

Whatever.

Monday I went back to start the two step repair process of getting a new crown.  Both my dentist and I found out (the hard way) that I have a very major nerve attached to that molar.  After 6 numbing injections and an hour and a half I left with a spine showing its resentment from C3-S2, a huge headache and a mouth that was both numb and sore at the same time.

My presumption was that I would wake up the next day with only a sore mouth. Sometimes I am such an idiot.

Here I am Friday morning still unable to eat anyway close to normal, jaw hurts and thinking about if the permanent crown will be better than what I am presently experiencing?

On the upside, Steve's biopsy has him in the clear!  My MRIs showed all the usual suspects -RA, tendonitis, bone spurs and some small ganglion cysts.  Normally the ortho said he would have used steroids, but in my case, just "use your hands less until you can't take it anymore.  Hopefully your trigger fingers won't come back and then we can address your wrists" .

Happy Labor Day...
